Desktop screenshot library

Shelf Studio

Product Engineer / 2025

Native desktop app that turns the desktop or any folder into a browsable screenshot grid—search inside images with on-device text recognition, tag and batch-organize fast, with familiar folder workflows and no uploads.

Owned concept through ship: visual design, native UI, on-device recognition, and filesystem integration—auto-refresh, date groups, batch rename/tag/delete, and privacy-first local processing.

Stack

  • Mac
  • Swift
  • SwiftUI
  • Apple Vision
  • Finder integration

Problem

Screenshots pile up; Finder is not built for this workflow.

People needed a visual grid, search inside captures, and bulk actions without sending images to the cloud—especially for design refs, bugs, and daily captures.

Build

Native grid with on-device recognition and smart sources.

Built filters for Finder tags and date groups, instant preview and inline actions, smart folder sources, and auto-refresh so new shots appear without manual reload.

Outcome

Lightweight, privacy-respecting control over screenshot chaos.

Shipped a desktop-native experience that feels like the file browser—faster, smarter, and purpose-built for screenshots on device.
